i have no clue on the shavings. they dont look like engine wear to me at all. the cam looks excellent and the chain.
i would try to start it. my book says down to about 220 cold compression is ok. hot will be more but what use is that if the engine is not running? i would try to start it. if it has fuel and compression it will run. if the glow plugs dont work you can pull it to start it. pulling will also start a car that has low compresssion or has sat a long time and the oil has run away from the rings. good luck tom w
