Mystery Knob on 1967 W111 250SE dash

Can anyone tell me what this knob/switch is supposed to do? The one between the radio and the sunroof rocker switch (arrow)

The winner of the "Name that Knob" contest receives the undying admiration of his/her peers.

Many thanks.

Mercedes usually makes their round control knobs match the others on the dash. That looks like something someone added. A fader for an extra radio speaker maybe? An add-on hazard light system? Or a manual fuel pump switch? I recall hearing that some needed to add one as a cure for occasional starting faults with the mechanical fuel injection.

Happy Motoring, Mark

knob

On my 111 cabrio that is where the fan control knob is located, but it looks different. I think maybe you have the same control but an aftermarket knob?

The switch is correct, it's the heater blower. The knob I think is a replacement. It just spins lamely on the shaft. Much like my career at work.

The good thing is I now know it's the heater blower. The bad thing is, I now know the heater blower motor doesn't work. Ouch.
