They ruined it. They could have used a 50 Ford or something.

Ugh...

I'm all for street rods... When they're done right. What a waste. And with a Nissan engine!? Why?

Someone should shoot that guy.

First year of the ponton aint it? Nissan engine doesnt bother me, heck I'm running a mitsubishi radiator in my 240D. But anybody who chooses that kinda horrible color and weird tailights discarding original bumpers and adding wire wheels oughta be beaten to a bloody pulp. What does the interior look like?

Otherwise heck, might not be a bad deal if its listed cheap. Wouldnt take much to restore exterior cosmetics back to normal. And *any* bathtub benz that can meet criteria for daily driver could in fact be worth owning for the experience.

(edit: we had somebody in here awhile ago with daily driver ponton 219 that had been lowered and painted flat black, it got rave reviews.

I believe it is,I had 2 of these, but both trashed.Sent one to the crusher a few years ago (it was red),and still have the other one(its white). We salvaged all the good parts from the red one and bought a lot of parts for the white one because it was in easy restoration state, but after we got the parts,we couldnt find anyone to install them ,now, those parts are sitting in the closet somewhere at one of my places.

At least it's not being used for banger racing or something like that.

Not thrilled by the body-mods, but the early Nissan inline OHC engines were blatant copies of 50s - 60s Mercedes designs, so transplanting one of those wouldn't be a bad choice, except for the Nissan manifolds being on the wrong side.

Happy Motoring, Mark
