cant figure out year
hi everybody
i just bought a ponton and cant figure out what year it really is. the title says that its a 63 which i know it cant be. the chasis # is 120 110 10 028997 it also says beside that *180Dc. i thought the last digits meant that it was the 28,997th in the production line of that model. but when i did more research i found out that there were only around 12,000 of the 180Dc made. i cant make any sense of it. any help would be appreciated. thank you |

I *think* the serial number covers the whole W120 range.

Check out this site, http://www.mbzponton.org/pax058/maint/chassis.htm. According to the site:
120: chassis, 180 series 1: diesel 10: model 1: left-hand drive 0: manual transmission 028997: serial number for the 120 chassis Since the serial number includes all 180 models, including all previous gas and diesel versions, it would be the 28,997th 180, not 180Dc. From the site, it looks like 180Dc production stopped on 10/62, so it could be a 1963 model. That site has a lot of other pontoon info that might help you out. |

Wait a minute, did they ever build a 180c gasoline ponton? And if it includes 190b and 190Db then does it mean they built only about 30,000+ of the small ponton sedan body style?

Send your VIN, make & model to: classicparts@mbusa.com for a detailed report on your vehicle from MB. On both of mine I got back a jpeg of the data card and the build decode.
