hydraulic leak

Spheres wont leak. Hydraulic oil tough to see without good lighting. Start it up, with system once under pressure, test for leaks. Turn off, check for leaks again and repeat process. Check struts and asssociated hoses. Also area around pump.

The "1977 Introduction to Service" manual has the 6.9 service procedures. In theory, the hydraulic diagrams for the 6.9 are also in the W116 chassis manual, but only in a late printing (like after 1979 or so). -CTH

A 76 year model, what's the chassis number? Must be very low.

I am just guessing but the hydraulic reservoir is just forward of the driver front wheel so that makes sense when you say that is where the hydraulic fluid leak is. I would wipe the switch and reservoir down and see if it is visibly leaking.

International M-100 group. I love looking at their site, and they seem very knowledgeable about these cars.

Hi Nutz, glad to see you here.

Where did you get that diagram? Is that image resized?

Hey bro',

Thanks for the welcome. Do you need a larger diagram?

The biggest possible images would be nice if they exist. What else have you got?

I bought shop manuals from a guy in 2004 off the M-100 site but he never cashed the check and I am still waiting.

Go to www.m-100.info, they have a huge library of stuff you can download. All M100 stuff. You have to register ont he site (like here) before you can access the download area.

The hydraulic system is simple. A leak is usually a strut or a line. The spheres don't leak the just lose their diaphragm and their spring. If the blow the ride becomes very harsh and if you drive on them this way you can damage struts.

Mine acts like yours, front sits down, its due to the front leveling valve leaking internally. But an extermal leak is bad. Do as the other guy said, pressure the system up, if it is leaking under pressure the light will be on signaling low pressure.
