IP problems
Hi,
Some of you may have noticed my earlier thread on timing my '75 240D. I think I have it now. However, I'm now looking for a new copper sealing ring for the pressure valve carrier in the IP pump. It's the one below the pipe connection. The reason I want it is the manual said to replace it. I put the old one back. It was very hard to bleed the system (ended up removing the pipe connection, and pumping) but I did in in the end after quite a bit of cranking. It ran nicely, heaps more power. But a slight out of balance feeling at maybe 800-1500 rpm (guessing). Now I leave it a week and the same problem. Won't bleed (no pressure on #1 injector when cracked). So I'm assuming this seal is the culprit. So now my real question - where to find this seal. I've tried various places, and i've ended up needing the pump number. Where is this (the pump's the M type I think)? The pump is pretty black and I can see what I think is the governor number, but where is the pump number situated? Thanks guys Harry
