My new 76 Euro 6.9 has arrived

I took delivery of the 76 Euro 6.9 yesterday. The car is pretty solid body wise with the exception of a rusty trunk floor well which i somewhat common on these cars.

This car looks like it has had a cheap repaint at one time, and pimped with good trim instead of chrome.

The valour is in OK shape but needs cleaning. The interior lights do not appear to work (dash etc). The a/c appears to blow cold but the levers and vents are a damaged.

The front passenger window regulator is broken, i think i would prefer to replace the whole door then mess with a regulator. I also need to see if I can find blue valour trim for that door in good shape.

The brakes are really soft, it looks like the Master cylinder is leaking. The engine starts on the button and seams to have a lot of power. The transmission seems like it's a little slow.

When switching the engine off, it continues to run on (what causes that?).

All said, it's a good buy.

So....where are the pictures.

The shutoff must be a vacuum issue isn't it?

1)Airflow sensor sticking or binding;
The plate is not rising to position,continuing to deliver fuel.

2)Control plunger binding or sticking;
Remove the fuel distributor and ensure that the control plunger moves freely.

3)Injectors leaking;
Do an injector flow test and make sure that they seat correctly.Replace any that are defective.

4)Cold start injector leaking;
Remove and pressurize the system and replace if it leaks.

I've ordered a rebuilt master cylinder from advance for $39 and a set of brake hoses. I plan to replace the master , hoses and bleed the system. I also plan to head to the junk yard and pull a front passenger door as my regulator is faulty and it's easier to replace the door then the regulator by the looks of it.

Nice looking car Al Are you going to keep the car silver in color?

CTH350, why do you have 6 of them? More so....how did you end up acquiring that many.

There is a guy on Benzworld who just got 6 600's in one auction lot.

can you tell the difference in power between the euro and the US version? You are right, the cloth interior looks great in these cars. All kidding aside it looks like you got a nice deal. The pictures make it look like a driver as is.

The car is actually a metallic blue colour and I think I'll keep it that colour because it's one of my favorite.

I think it wouldn't take long to turn this into a daily driver. The most important things that need attention is the brakes and the run on. The interior isn't to the condition that yours is in. I wouldn't drive it to Texas though

WRT to the power difference, I haven't been able to tell because the brakes are really bad on this car and the transmission seems a little sluggish. It does feel a lot lighter then my 6.9 which has really heavy steering.

The regulator is not that hard to replace!

I did it on mine several years ago on the 450SEL I am now parting out. The W116 chassis manual has the details and it takes a couple of hours. I will sell the motor & regulator together for $50 + shipping. Send me a PM if you are interested.
Thanks,
Lee Zook
