450sl stalling concern

My uncle recently left me a 77 450 sl. This car has sat for a year but it fired up and seem to run fine, that was until I got about 10 miles down the road, then it stalled. I waited a couple of minutes and fires it back up and it stalled again in a few miles. I have put about 100 miles on the car locally and ran new fuel in the car ,but I still have the same condition. A fuel pump was installed in the car about 2 years ago and approx 500 miles of driving since then. What may be the comon concerns with this car.
Thank you. odometer 60,000

Clogged fuel screen (in the bottom of the fuel tank), clogged fuel filter, clogged fuel injectors, clogged fuel distributor.

Are you seeing a pattern here? The fuel system has a nasty habit of getting clogged up if the car sits.

Go get a big bottle of Techron concentrate from the local parts store. Follow the directions on the bottle and put it in your gas tank. The stuff works wonders.

If the problem continues, go back to the top of the list I posted...you may need to drain the fuel tank so you can remove and clean (or replace) the screen.

Ok, got some BG 44k fuel additive for the tank, put it in and let it sit overnight. Drove to work yesterday, no stalling. Drove a total of 70 miles and never had a problem. Normally would have stalled while driving at least 5 times. I never thought a fuel additive could make such a differance. Thank you.

I had similar problem with my MB 500 SEL. Eventually I resolved it. First i replaced the distributor cup and rotor (did not help). Then I replaced all ignition wires (did not help), I put new spark plugs ( did not help), I put all new injectors ( this was for a different reason , but no effect anyway). Last thing I did- put new fuel pump relay - IT DID WORK!
