1965 Mercedes 220SEb Coupe

I purchased a 1965 Mercedes 220SEb Coupe that needs some real TLC. Over the year that I have had it, I have been able to locate sources for just about everything I need to get it back into shape except exterior body chrome. What I am in search of is the chrome around the front and rear windows and along the doors. What I currently have is so dinged that I don't believe a chrome shop could get the pieces back to the original shape.

My mechanic has a few corpses of that vintage parked out in a pasture, but most of the chrome, wood, etc. have already been stripped. Other than going through a Mercedes dealership does anyone have any sources or suggestions?

The wood was another problem, but my mechanic had some skeletal pieces that were solid where the veneers had mostly fallen off. I am going to try my hand at doing the wood lamination with some good looking birdseye maple. If all else fails, I can send the pieces out to a professional if my attemps fail, but I think it will be a great learning experience, and a challenge.

Adsit

Try Adsit and the Mercedes Benz Classic center. But don't discount the chrome shop. You would be surprised at what they can do.

Try Ebay

I saw some 111 chrome on Ebay a while ago-don't know if it is still there. Someone was parting a car.

I have restored a number of cars throughout the years. I have used Paul's chrome, www.paulschrome.com, and you would be amazed at what they can do. Look at the before and after on their web site. What you see is factual and not hype. He is far from cheap buit is probably the best in the business.
