That is a cool project.

Did you ever decide which grill, Anton?

Now that's a great link. I was wondering where the pic, of the red coupe came from to begin with. I like that car so much I'm building one exactly like it. I have it set-up, as my screen saver also. Someone posted the pic, on this site a while back, and I saved it to "My Computer". Really sick looking car. Not crazy for the color, but imagine it, in charcoal grey, silver, or even black, with matte black bumpers, and trim....mmmmm,aahhh..oooo!! That would be awesome. Sorry for the temporary hijack Anton...

Yes, the car is owned by Barry, over at Richmond Mercedes. He's the importer. I talk to him regularly, and him and the wifey use the car to fetch groceries, and bring the dogs to the groomers.
He told me of a woman he knows with a flawless, original AMG, 280CE (Like the red one pictured) living near him.

She is not aggressively selling the car, but wants $110k for it, if she were to encounter a serious buyer. I've recently kicked around the idea, of making the investment. I may, if the car is still available, in the next few months. Her husband bought it brand new, and Barry imported it for him. The husband passed about ten years ago, and the car has barely ever moved. Barry said the car has less than 20 thousand miles on it, and is like th day he brought it into the country. I've forgotten what year the thing is though..

Why can't you get away with it...? It sounds like a very feasable project to me. Just rent a garage, if you don't have a place, and find a 6.9 parts car. Just curious, because you said you wish could get away with it. Are you worried about epa/emissions issues..? They shouldn't be an issue, if you use an old enough 123 car, or even an exempt Diesel car, as the mother ship, for the new engine..
