Crazy M110 idea

From what I have heard the M110 has a strong bottom end, does anyone know how these engines take to super/turbo charging? I just got this crazy idea about maybe adding a turbo to my 280C someday. I'm not talking about a lot of boost, maybe 5 pounds or so. I really need to do some research on the engine, I'm sure compression would have to be knocked down, and the fuel system would need an upgrade from the poor solex. Studebaker had GREAT success with a supercharged V8 blowing through a carter AFB. That might be something to look at......just day dreaming....200+hp 2.8 twin cam six.....yummy....

It strikes me the flowthrough ventilated twincam would take it. But also add expansion chamber headers custom built to absorb the flow. And then polishing the ports too?

the compresssion is so low on the us spec engines i bet they would take modest boost readily.

on a euro though i would be careful.

i have a 280e euro. it is a sweet, high revving engine. it feels a lot like a bmw straight six.

what's the comp ratio of the euro? i'm thinking of having venolia make me a set of pistons for the m110 buildup.

i'm banking that i can hit 200hp with just head work, euro cams, exhaust, and efi. raising the comp ratio slightly with new pistons would just be cake.

Check the new edition of Mercedes Enthusiast (it's come out on the 15th?) - it'll have an article on a w123 M110 with nitrous. I am curious.

the euro pistons are 9.4 iirc.

mine is supposed to be 185 hp. about 180 torque.

if you took the max on a mill of the head it would go up some.

i would think careful twiddling with timing and such might get 200hp.
