heater blower not working-what to check

model: 240d 1975 115
the blower switch stopped coming on or working
what do i check?
fuses-
looking thru manual there are a lot of fuses in alot of places,
the ones i have checked appear to be ok so far
i did notice a RED wire just laying around, i dont know if someone has been playing with my car while it was parked or what could be tho, and it is in the area of the fuses, other than that,
thanks in advance

am out looking it over now, didnt have anyluck the last time, i looked, sometimes looking again...well...

its the middle of winter, dont know about pulling the whole heater thing apart... wanted to wait another day a warmer period of time, altho it looks like mainly four screws along the top and under the dash for the console area

Does the blower work with the A/C compressor knob turned full clockwise?

nope on the cooler to full knob

that loose red wire is weird, could of come loose from somewhere,
just looked over the fuses in the fuse box #'d 1-12 didnt notice any breaks, and there are two fuses with a little lid on them, they seemed ok, they are just above the 1-12 box, and there are 2 a few inches away from those and they seemed ok, and then there are 2 on the other side of the engine (passenger side) and they seemed ok, dunno

the cooler knob seemed to have no effect, and the let her warm up to see if that had any effect... nada

I tried the cooler again, and noted that the cooler light did not come on, so it must be a fuse or a wire, perhaps a common one?
thanks
