1970 w114 250CE sunroof issue
also, the sunroof switch simply blows its fuse when pressed. any common causes i can investigate??

Disconnect the motor in the trunk from the wiring. If the fuse stops blowing, then it's either the motor being fried or the cable is stuck causing the motor to stress.
It's been a while, but I believe you can disconnect the motor from the cable and try again. -CTH |

Does the key turn in the lock? If so, turn it fully counterclockwise, hold it there and push in.
The sunroof motor has a clutch. It can be operated via an adaptor that should be clipped near the motor. The nut the the adaptor fits has a washer with bent tabs. If you unbend the tabs, you can loosen a nut and thus loosen the clutch. First try cth350's suggestion and if it does not blow the fuse with the motor unplugged, try loosening the clutch. Michael

Make sure you're using the right key. The master key is the only one which will open the trunk lock. The valet key only opens the door and ignition lock. Try your key in the glove compartment lock and see if it works there...if not then it may just be a valet key and you need to use the master key.
