280slc euro history search
I'm trying to find some technical info on my car. I can't find the engine #.
Or at least can't get to it. With a birthdate of 18 Jan 1978, it should be a 110.986 with a carburator, but I have fuel injection. How can I tell if its the Bosch K or J injection?

All 107's had injection in one form or another. Yours should have plain old K-Jet, but an easy way to tell is to look at your injectors. If they have gas lines running to them, it's K-Jet. Wires and it's D-Jet.
Your engine number is on a horizontal surface on the engine block, right where it meets the head, a few inches back from the distributor. You may also be able to look your car up on this site: http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng

I have gas lines so guess its the K-jet. 18-Jan 1978 is the delivery date not the birthdate. I had to get a letter from Daimler Chrysler in Stuttgart, Germany before I could bring it back stateside. They gave me some history:
birthdate, delivery date, contract #. Thanks
