Hi guys...

I was inside my car..checking out that gas pedal. My pedal doesn't make contact with the kickdown button. It SHOULD, right? The pedal is a bit off to the right of that button...do ya think something is wrong with this pedal???

Yes, it should touch the switch. The odds are against the kickdown switch moving. So its got to be pedal or the arm it's attached to. Is the bottom of the pedal anchored?

Randy D.

Randy,

You're the right guy for this question. Christy's distributor has a post built into it for the points. However, the parts book references I dug up say that the points themselves already contain the post.

Can explain this little quirk? She eventually found the right points, but it took a while. I ment to ask you last week via the vets list, but got side tracked with Frank being ill.

The switch will move when I press it with my hand....but the bar and pedal are about an inch to the right of the switch.

The bottom of the pedal is attached.

See...I was having a bit of trouble when I HAD my car running (momentarily). The pedal HAD to be floored to idle, then unfortunately, it would choke out and die. BUT I felt it was a problem with the pedal, since I couldn't rev the engine...and I KNOW that the switch has nothing to do with starting, but, I thought since the pedal appears to be OFF TRACK, that it would add FACT to my GUESS of a pedal problem...(ALONG with my carburetor problems)...

Woe is me.
