Got my 1967 250s home!!
Well everyone I finally got my 1967 250s home from the guy I bought it from. It doesn't run just yet. I was told it had a blown head gasket. I'll check that out and give you more info on that later. Any advice would be great on do's and don'ts. Apparently some kids decided they wanted my silver star hood ornament more than I did so they snipped it off before the wrecker picked it up..Grrrrr. If there is anyone on here that has an extra hood ornament for my car would you want to sell your extra one or donate it to a good cause I did notice a few other things that would need replacing such as the outside clear corner lenzes and the driverside front turn signal lenz. One more thing I was wondering. I have two keys with the car. I have the ignition and another smaller key. The ignition only works with the ignition but the smaller one unlockes the doors and fuel cap. I did notice that the smaller one does not lock or unlock either the glove box door or the trunk. Should it open those two or is there another key that should go to it? Does anyone have a trunk and glove box lock set with a key for it that I could buy from them. I would love to have all the basic items working on the car before I move on to the more advanced items. Sorry to keep asking questions but this is my first Mercedes and I just love the body on this car. I was told that some of the Mercedes have a central vacuum locking system. Should mine have that or is it the normal mechanical locking system? I look forward to any and all input reguarding my car from anyone on here.
Sincerely, Paul Kepner IV

Welcome to the fold. The car is rugged and reliable. You can also make some improvements and modernize it too. I plan to do this to my 220S.
There are three keys, the ignition key, a smaller square headed key for the doors, which you have and nother small round headed key for the trunk. The way I remember which one works what is 'square key for a square door'. Your car is a little too early for central locking. I believe this came out with the later 280S/SE/SEL versions in 1968. You can add this if you'd like. I'm going to add this to my 220S with the vacuum pump from the W126 series. Make sure you can grease the front suspension. There are grease points at all the movable joints. There are also two on the drive shaft and two on the rear axle low pivot joint. If any cannot be greased, they need to be cleaned or rebuilt. There are rubber sealing rings at each joint. The 230/250/280SL W113 Pagoda series is made from the many of the same mechanical parts as our cars so visiting thise web sites can be educational. Here are some links: http://www.sl113.org/forums/default.asp http://pagoda113.com/eve?cdra=Y&s=3846000021 You need an owners manual and a 'Spare Parts Table' that details all the parts in the car and is avaible from MB. Here is a link a Russian web site: http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1 Your car: http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb1.asp?TP=1&F=108012&VIN= and the front suspension, for example: http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=1&F=108012&M=108%2E920&CT=F&cat=232&SID=33&SGR=001&SGN=01 OK, read up! http://www.w108.org/
