Ebay overseas

Has anyone ever ordered a part for your car from overseas? namely western Europe, or austrailia? There's a NEW pair of W116 head lamps on E-bay right now, but they're in PORTUGAL!

aanyone have any problems with E-bay at all?

I have bought some parts from Ebay Germany, Australia, and UK. I have had no problem, but I am extra carefull and really look at the feedback. Plus I can converse in German with the German sellers. A lot of EU sellers don't have/use paypal and request a bank transfer, which is cheap in Europe, but my bank wanted $40 for a wiretransfer. I managed to get around that, but the lesson is to make sure you got the money part figured out. Also, double check that the seller is willing to ship to US. Even if it says "worldwide" does not mean US, plus the cost can get really high. I would send an e-mail first asking for the shipping cost to US.

Good luck,

Bert

For some reason a lot of the scammers on E-bay seem to either originate in Nigeria or have email addresses from there. Maybe just a coincidence but Nigerian email addresses should ALWAYS raise the red flags in financial dealings.

Now on the other hand, I have just been informed of a multi-million dollar account in Nigeria which is being held in my name if I will send funds to prove my lineage to the deceased.........

I've sold items to ebayer in just about every EU country, right now I have a box of 108 parts going to Poland. I've bought from a few sellers in the EU, Tiawan, Australia and Canada. By far most of my dealings are in Germany.
In the EU Paypal is catching on but it is the norm to charge the buyer Paypal's fees.
When buying, shoot the seller an email to feel them out to gain some kind of comfort level and to acertain their willingness to ship to the US. Realize that the US$ is weak and postage is expensive, except parcels from Australia where there seems to be some type of gov't subsidy.

I bought a complete set of door seals from a fellow in Australia, with no problems at all.
I'm trying to buy something right now from a fellow in Germany - we'll see how that goes.
