So i'm thinking of selling the 108

I'm probably going to put these pictures up craigslist and list it for $5500.

It's a real shame, because I can total up more then $10000 in repairs over the last 3 years. But I need to reduce my inventory and I would really like to put money aside for a 6.3.

If it doesn't sell, i wont be too disappointed.

Me too, time to move the 108

I also have a 108 for sale. After sitting in the garage under cover since 12/06, she fired on the first try Friday morning!

Why is everyone selling their 108s?
Al, you have no idea how tempted I am to drive to GA

Right now, my car is in Dallas, TX which should be more of a fun drive to PA.
For me, the only reason I would sell is to make space for a 6.3. I'm quite determined that I will be getting a 6.3 in 2007.

Aw, there goes that idea. I might have been willing to drive to GA, but TX is right out! But why sell the 108? Logic would dictate that you should sell the car you drive the least - which I don't think is your 108

Well, here's the logic. The 4.5 looks like the 6.3 so why have two.
The 4.5 has had a bunch of money put into so it looks like it's worth something to the average buyer (all my cars are worth something, but, for the average buyer, it may be hard to see).
I love driving the 6.9 too much to sell it and I'm hoping to use the funds towards the 6.3 which I would either buy a $2500 resto project or a $12500 driver. Probably leaning towards the driver as my new job is eating up every spare hour that I have.

I find this line of thinking really confusing. You have spent $10K on your 4.5 and you want to sell it at a loss. Then you want to get 6.3, which can be the biggest money pit on the planet. IMHO, you will spend untold 10's of thousands of dollars on a 6.3 while your 4.5 looks great, and looks like a 6.3.

Here's a much cheaper alternative, get a 6.3 badge and replace the 4.5 with it.

How much did you spend on your 6.9?

A w108 with a 6.3 badge is not a 6.3. how much did I buy my 6.9 for? I paid less then $1000 for my 6.9.

It takes that kind of bookeeping to keep these things running.

I wonder if you could get the same HP out of the 4.5 with some mods like a supercharger or updated fuel injection?

Actually apart from the initial restoration, I have very little money in it in terms of mechanical repair. The most expensive item so far is timing chain which is prevention rather then cure.

Al. Those are beautiful pictures of a beautiful car. Do you have any interior shots that are as good? In your restoration did you have to do any rust work on it? What was the cars origin and have you ever torqued the steering box mounting bolts?
