Replacing front seal - Any tips/tricks?

There is a long and detailed write-up on the Diesel page about replacing the front seal using a small plastic cup so as to not disturb the outside rim, etc. to keep it from leaking.

Anyway, any tips or tricks doing this on my '72 250 - M130 engine? How do I go about prying the seal out and what do I need to be careful about? Do I need to replace the spacer?

Thanks, ryan
