Glad to be able to help. It also cured the slightly rough idle it had, that would not go away after new wires, plugs, cap, rotor and CO adjustment.
I just remembered that I also replaced the plastic injector holder(s), I broke a couple changing the seals and decided to do all eight. Good luck. |

It's FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I went by a local MB independent shop and he told me that "sometimes" the o-rings on the pressure regulator on these older cars will leak just a bit and cause the car to exhibit my symptoms. I need to take a dozen donuts by next week. Well, I pulled the regulator, went to Lowes and bought some "close to the same" o-rings, installed them, and now All is well. Now when I shut down the engine the pressure only drops to 3.2 and holds. So, for $1.27 cents I fixed the car. I was also able to reduce the idle mixture richness and hopefully I will see the effects on the injectors and plugs. I'm going to wait a few weeks before I buy new injectors and see how this baby runs with a bottle of injector cleaner in the gas and the reduced idle richness. Thanks everyone!!!!, and I hope this thread helps someone else with their issues down the road. I learned a lot. I now know how a lot of things work (much more to learn), but this extremely frustrating episode has come to a close. Dave
