W108 L.s.d Conversion?
Hey all, My names matt and I live in the land down under. I own a fairly modified 1968 280se. A bit of a wierd question for you all, but i would like an l.s.d diff in my car and was wondering if another diff will slot in? I need to keep the "split" type diff in the car as it has a modified air bag system in it and i need the split diff so it can drop to the ground. Engine has been converted to a efi 5lt v8 and i dare say the diff has a somewhat short life span at my current rate!!!

I believe the LSD from a 126 may work, don't quote me on that.

How did you get it that low? Are there springs you got or did you just cut them.
Doesnt that screw up the handling and alignment?

The car is on airbags. the springs are removed and an airbag put in its place. I can lift or drop the car to any height i like depending on the pressures in the bags. When fully deflated, the car sits flat on the ground. It handles pretty much the same, if not better than before. All the alignment is set at my standard drive height ( which is still atleast 3 inches lower than factory!! ) so there's no problems with the alignments at all

Put in a LSD frm a '72 4.5 [ 108.067/068 ]..that is a swing and it is also a 3:27 and much beefier than the standard diff.
Drops right in Last edited by Arthur Dalton; 06-18-2007 at 07:23 AM. |
