W116 Euro Light Disassembly
I was looking at the Euros installed in my 6.9 and noticed that the reflectors are quite grimy.
It appears the metal panel the lens and between the bumper must be unbolted to remove the lens and reflector for cleaning. Is that the only way or is there perhaps a better way to release the front lens for cleaning? |

Success!
I didn't think those retaining clips were designed to turn. I turned them and immediately the plastic nubs to protect the glass cracked even when pulling on them with pliers. Hmm... I wonder if they can be reordered! |

Euro Headlights
I did mine a few weeks ago, same method, grab each clip and rotate, seems like there's just enough room to shimmy the glass up and out. I had to bend my spring clips inwards a little for the reinstall, I wanted to make sure I had a good seal against the gasket.
My reflectors were grimy as well. Well, at least the one on my right lens...still have to do the left one. On mine, inside the light assembly, there's a shield that sits in front of each bulb. I noticed that on mine the surface was black...not shiny like I would have expected. It wasn't dirt, just a clean, almost glossy black surface. Does this sound right? How did yours look? I'm thinking I might have to remove it again and get it dipped, if this is possible. Also, the gasket on my left lens is dried out and cracked. I'm pretty sure it's leaking, that's likely the cause for the grime. I tried German Star (I bought a lens from them) to see if they sold the gasket alone, and they don't. Any ideas how to do this, maybe this gasket material is sold by the sheet and I just cut my own? Thanks. Sorry for the hijack.
