Does anyone have an extra 4.5 distributor lying around?

The mystery of the large box of strangely worn caps and rotors found in Brunhilda's trunk when I took possession is solved...

My distributor has seen better days, days where there was a lot less vertical play in the shaft.

If you have one you know is good (without excessive play) and it needs a home, please drop me a line.

I may have one that is ok in my Personal Parts Car - but "known good" so far is better than "new" from any supplier.

...and I'll I was gonna do this week was AC...

How many do you want? I KNOW I have at least 1. I need to see if the p/n's off a 3.5 and 4.5 one match, then if they do I have 2. And I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow - may have 3. Anyway, yeah... I have a spare. PM me if you want to make sure your P/N matches one of mine.

I got the one out of my old car. Upon examination, with my limited skills, it appears to have no real play at all. Waiting for my mechanic to tell me what he thinks. I hope its good enough, those things are really $$$$ new and no one rebuilds them anymore.

Give Dennis Dark a call on 404 767 1747. Dennis is an interesting fellow who runs a shop in Hapeville. He has a huge stack of cars and parts there. He may have what you need or may know where to get it.

He's a character but he is very resourceful. Chris worked with him way back in the day and speaks very highly of him.

you guys are GREAT!!!!

Thanks!

It looks like mine out of my old 4.5 might be ok, a list member who was junkyarding found me one - and if I can get one rebuilt, thats GREAT!

Another thing, the triggerpoints that Benz makes available now are new style connectors.

So you need to either solder on the old style connector to the new triggerpoints (oh yeah?) - or cut the wiring harness and adapt the new style connector.

Being as my wiring harness is new and pristine and perfect, I don't want to cut that.

Has anyone else dealt with this, and how?

Oh - and gas mileage around town since I replaced injectors - I about fell over... Almost 16 mpg - and thats hardly any freeway. What'll she do when the rest of the ignition/fuel system is 100% rock solid?

Time for a road trip.
