Overheating in stalled Highway traffic in July

I have a '83 380SEL that overheats on a warm day while stalled in traffic. Sometimes it goes to the red line.... Should the fan spin extremely fast when the engine is hot? I also have green antifreeze. I read that is the wrong antifreeze. I will change that. Is there a chemical that I can use to clean out the engine block that will remove deposits?

Thanks for your help,

Do a search on Citric Acid

You can do a Citric Acid flush. run a search on how to do it properly. There are many posts on the subject.
You can buy the stuff on Ebay. Then make sure you use the proper coolant (MB or Zerex G-05)

Good luck
