Has anyone else had this problem???
I just recently removed the carpeting in my 76 240D (w115) because it smelled and was rotted. The PO said he had forgotten the windows were down slightly when he left the car parked for weeks and the rain had gotten into the car. The floor boards look good...no rust.
Heres the problem: I havent replace the carpeting yet...and we just had some severe rain the last 2 days...water starting filling up in the floor board area while I was driving. It wasnt leaking from the windows and since the floor boards dont look rusty...I dont know where else to check. I am hoping someone else has had a similar problem and fixed it. If this has been answered on the forum already...please direct me as I could not find it anywhere. Thanks.

I remember someone here had a sunroof that leaked inside their car at times. The tube that goes from the sunroof track down the side of the windshield and out through the fender leaked.

Thanks...the trunk seal is a little worn...but the water seems to be accumulating in the front and then making its way to the back seat area.
It does have a sunroof...its not leaking directly from the sunroof...IT could be that drain tube....I'll check.

If I cant find the source of the water entry....ANY suggestions on making the interior water resistant or preventing water from coming in again.

That's a typical problem with the cars when it rains. I traced the leaks to the boots in the doors connecting the vaccum lines. I plugged them with rags and it worked for me. But when it rains I pull the rear mats and open up the rear air vent to the floor to keep the evaporation level high to minimize rusting.

That sounds a lot like my problem. It seems that the rain was coming in from the run off from the car rather than from the underside of the car. Are there any diagrams of the doors that show these boots? Can I plug them with some of that "foam filler" stuff in a can? What are your thoughts on spraying some undercoating on the inside of the floor boards?
Thanks

I would also suspect the windshield seal and caulk it with black silicone after cleaning it well with alcohol and a plastic picnic knife ground with a grinder to a hook shape.

The boots in the doors are clearly visible as there is nothing else in the door jamb other than the hinges. I wouldn't reccomend spraying any sort of foam into the body all that will do is create crevices for water to accumulate. If you spray it into the flexible boots (which are likely torn) it means you cannot access the hard vaccum lines.

Ooohhh...the boots are those black accordian looking things with the wires inside. Can I wrap them with electrical tape?
Tom W....am I removing all of the windshield seal with the plastic knife or just filling in the cracks and whatever breaks off?

New development....
I vacuumed all the water out of the car yesterday morning...no rain yesterday or today...so there was no water inside. BUT today while driving it some water appeared in the floor board areas again (not nearly as much as before). I am beginning to suspect the air conditioner is contributing to water inside. My Suburban drips ALOT of water when the A/C is on...does the Mercedes also drip when the A/C is on and can is be plugged up causing it release water inside the car? It seemed to be coming from behind the bottom of the center console....from underneath these black plastic things that flank the center console. Anyone know what those are?

Got a junk yard around with your model or similar? Always a good learning tool to check out (I mean dismantle)their cars to find out how yours works...

Wrapping the boots w/ electrical tape didnt work. Im going to remove all the boots and stuff or fill the voids with something...I think this will solve a majority of the problem....
I still have water coming in when the A/C is on...anyone else have this problem?

I have a similar problem, but I know the source - when it rains, I turn the heater on. After a while I need to pee - the rain comes through the heater fan, collects there then leaks into the cabin. Anyone know how to pull that out to reseal? (car is right and drive)
