Door Seals Too Thick
All,
I am basically done with a near full restoration of my 1971 220D. It looks great and I will post a few shots in the next day or so...I am having a problem with the door seals that I bought through ******** Arizona. The front door seals are just too thick. I was unable to put the metal strip back on and still close the doors. The new seals are a temp fix but I need to go back to an OEM seal. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a good source other than the Mercedes dealer or Phil? Bill |

A few years ago, I replaced the front door seals of a 240D W123 and they worked OK; however, even a new OEM seal is going to make the closing of the door tighter. I bought the seals from Performance Products. Sorry, I don't remember the price. Some of their stuff is good and some is, well, made in China. If it is an after-market item made in Germany by one of the bigger manufacturers, chances are is will be fine.

With the new seals, they are going to be thicker, you need to adjust your striker to adjust for it.
