How are you using the sea foam? You can pour it in with a tank of gas and that will clean your fuel injection system. Or pour it directly into the the throttle body (very slowly) while the engine is warm and then cut the engine off for 10 mins and let it do it's thing.

Then you crank it and take it for a drive where no one will see you because it will smoke like you would not believe. This seemed to do the trick for me.

Most of the first can went down the intake, altho I didn't bring it to the point of stalling, shut it down and wait ten minutes as the can instructed. Didn't get any smoke at all. I've seen the huge clouds that it can make but didn't get any at all.

The second can went into the nearly empty tank without adding fuel for a few days. Again, no smoke and not much of a change.

The third can went in the tank and was followed by a quarter million dollars of premium. It seems to be much less likely to run on now but is that due to the higher octane or am I getting somewhere? Before the Seafoam, if it dieseled harshly, it would rattle like a freight train at the next start. I hope it's a lifter (I know, I know, it's a ball stud) collapsing from being hammered when the oil pressure drops real low.

I think the dieseling is caused by some mechanical or fuel system issue but to the Seafoam's credit, the engine does run smoother at idle and just off idle.

When first started on colder mornings, it stumbles and farts for the first few seconds, smoothes out with a nice idle around 1200. A few blocks down the road, at the first stop, it will go poot before accelerating smoothly and then run fine the rest of the trip.

This weekend I did a little house cleaning in the workshop and bought my first car with a Chevy small block engine. I've been meaning to get into a Chevy engined car for some time and this was very cheap way of getting into one.

The car in question is a 1986 Jaguar XJ6 VDP. The PO lost the brakes and drove it into a ditch. The transmission is messed up and one of the manifolds is broken but both parts can be cheaply had at the junk yard. I rented a trailer and with the help of a friend, we loaded this car and took it to the shop. Then took the 76 Euro 6.9 to my apartment and put the 70 Rover in storage. Both the 76 Euro and the 70 Rover and for sale and i'm going to take a bath on both of them. But I need the space right now and also need to the money that I would spend on them to go on the 300SEL 6.3 which requires some considerable effort to restore.

The 76 6.9 is on Ebay and the Rover is being offered to a couple of Rover enthusiasts for very little money. Worse case I will pull the engine for a future MGB V8 conversion and scrap the rest of the car.

Rover

It needs to be put back together, new carpet and all the electrics and emmisions reconnected.

It's had rebuilt brake calipers with new sleeves and the dual masters done but the brake pedal is rock solid on it. The seats and dash is in good shape but there is no carpet.

I have a trunk and main cabin full of parts for it. What I want is around $650 which is about what I paid to ship it here.

You can see it here: http://www.w108.org/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=Rover-P6

Al,

Did I spot a manual transmission in that Rover??? If so, that 5 speed puppy alone is worth your $650-$1000 for the MGB conversion folks.

This one has a Borg Warner 35 Automatic. The 5 speed from a TR7 or a Rover SD1 will work for a V8 conversion.

Could have fooled me. I thought Pict0991 (page2) had a five speed manual in it.

No that picture is of a manual shifter. I bought three cars as a package deal. Two were Rover 2000 models with a 4 speed manual and the other was the v8. I parted out the two 4 cylinder cars and kept the V8 which had the auto.

Hence I have a pile o parts with this car.
