6.3 stalling sometimes
When it is cold out side my 6.3 starts immediately. Also, if the car is hot, starts great every time. No problems driving. However, if the engine is only warm, the car will start, but stalls coming off idle. Would the way to fix this be adjusting the injection pump somehow, or is there something else like a warm up regulator that might be the culprit? The car acts like and old carbureted engine that wasn't warmed up yet.

Follow the cooling hoses to the little tower on the injection pump.
There is a small metal rod burried inside a bit of wax in there that reacts to the coolant temperature. The testing procedure for it is in the service manual. DON'T remove the metal rod or you will find out just how expensive an small, obscure 6.3 part can be. -CTH |
