is it a euro?

how do I definetively determine if my car is the euro?
I was told it is, and will probably be selling the m110 out of it, and want to determine if it is a euro for sure.

also what would the m110 be worth, it runs ok except for the crappy solex
and has 90,000 origonal miles, and will also come with the auto trans.

I would assume the vin would tell if it's a euro???

how many others have swapped in amercan muscle into these cars?
I don't like the m110 engine, even after setting the valves I find it very gutless, and bad on gas, and not the real quiet, smooth engine I had expected a mercedes to have.

I wouldn't do it but if you are planning to do a species transformation on the 280C keep in mind you are dealing with subframe suspension. You can't drop an extra 200 or 300 lbs. into the setup. It's not like you can install stiffer springs or anything.

You could probably slip in a small V-6 but I doubt you can get away with any V-8.

my new engine is actually a lot lighter, and my concern is it may be too light, and I might need to ballast the front end a bit.
it's a 3.8 litre turbo from a wrecked grand national, has and aod ford overdrive trans, in the gn it was pushing 300hp on the dyno, at the rear wheels. the car had a telephone pole installed in the passenger seat.

but how do I tell if mines a euro???

Best way to tell on Euro cars is vin (at least older ones)
VIN would start with WDB then model number
Guages will most likely be converted to US

will have to check the vin when I get home, the speed is in mph only.
think the oil is kpa though
the fuel guage makes little sense, r, 2/4 , 4/4 seems silly to me.

I got bar oil pressure & C temp
but it looks like it had these in US manual
as it describes norma in C & bars

So I am assuming US cars also had that?

Cruise control is in german if you have that\\

I'd say definitive proof of Euro origin is the vin as anyone can swap out bumpers guages & things.

Looks like title at least in CA will also say
Origin
Non USA

The ID tag on the door jamb will not be from Mercedes. The tag on the door jamb is a US only thing, but I think MB did it for all North America cars. In the rest of world cars they don't have an ID plate on the door jamb so when a Euro car was brought to the US that had to added to the cars by whoever imported the car.

Hmmm
My manual definitely has C temp & bar pressure
Guess my 380sec 1983 manual is a Euro version printed in English as it
has the metric. I thought for sure if they would go thru trouble reprinintg a Euro 380 SEC manual they would have jkust gone ahead & reprinted a Eurp 500 SEC manual.
Interesting but still is curious.
...
I don;t have a 500 83 manual as there were no US 500 SEC
but I have a 500 SEC 84 manual.
I'll have to check that for US specs.
I just figured since they were in English they were US specs..

Thanks

want a musclular motor? How about a nice hemi.

The M110 is a 2.8l hemi motor. All you need is a good carb and a valve adjustment.

The motor has mechanical lifters and they get adjusted every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. The PO might have skipped that step.

Dump the solex in favor of a Holley and you should be in better shape.

If it was a euro, wouldn't it be fuel injected and be called a 280CE? I ask because my 73 280CE is fuel injected and has plenty of pickup.

The E is for Einspritzung (fuel injected). Nothing to do with being Euro or not ..no E on the end, then it is a carb engine.
