1967 w108 radio questions

A few easy ones:

What is the speaker size for the front dash?

Is this a standard 2 post radio or does it have some weird amp behind it? It's a Becker with no label. It has 2 AM buttons a SW button and 3 FM buttons.

Does anyone make a 2 post retro looking replacement? It doesn't have to be a Becker but something appropriate to the era would be nice.

The radio can be turned on even if the car is off. Is that typical or is this something the PO messed up?

You can pull the radio and amp out and send them off to Becker of North America in NJ. For around $130.00 they will rebuild it, clean it, set it up & tune it and send it back.

If you pull the center kick panel off, you should see a small silver box mounted under the radio just above the floor. This is the amp. If you don't, you have the all in one radio.

Becker can also provide you with the missing name plate.

I did this on my 108 and was pleased with the result. Sounds great and pulls in a gizillion stations.

Thanks for the info. Would you happen to know the dash speaker size?

Don't recall the size but it's a long, narrow speaker. Pretty specific to the car but they come up on eBay now and again. Junk yard might be worth while also. Under the decorative wood dash grill there would be another fabric or foam and mesh grill to keep debris off it.

Here's one in Germany...

I got the answer from Becker, at least for the stereos they are the standard 4 ohms. I'm assuming the same for mono
