Wow a cheap coupe

I like the look of those a lot. Hard to go wrong for just $600 for a whole car unless it is rust from the door handles down. But who steals water pumps, ffs???!!

How come only one driving light on the car? That looks weird.

I was over there a few hours ago and darn that car looks very good. The only rust is surface rust on the rocker panels on both sides.Other then that its a very very nice car.I told the gentleman there that I will consider buying it after i think about it all during the night! lol

Nice price, looks a lot like mine. I wonder why some had column shift and some had floor shift.

Good luck!

Thumbs up

Rust is the killer on these. Check under the carpets and all in the trunk, and especially under the car and at the jack points, and the wheel arches.

Could be what they call an "EZ builder" at that price.

Those models have a lovely rasp and snarl from the exhaust that is a unique Mercedes sound.

They are beautiful classics from any angle. Sounds like a worthwhile gamble to me for the money.

Several years ago I saw a dark blue one, pass by on the cobbled streets of Arequipa, (Peru's second largest city) on a vacation trip there. That was astonishing.

I'd echo the comments on rust...rarely is rocker rust just surface rust...by the time it is visible it may already be terminal so as long as it is solid you can't go too wrong for $600 unless the engine isn't really runable...even then there is probably $600 worth of parts on it.

Another thing to check for on the 250C's is the front subframe's bushing rear mounting cup. I've seen them completely rusted away on an otherwise "surface rust" only car. They are repairable but it's another thing to fix.

Congrats!! So long as there are no unpleasant rust surprises, ya did good.

Ask at Fastlane, ********AZ, Germanstar, EPS parts in Santa Barbara, Rusty at BUYMBparts in Atlanta, are all very good, that I know of, and there many sources for those.

Even the Mercedes Benz Classic factory center could help.

Finding a matching front driving light could be tough. Or you could put something custom on there, or maybe take the single one off, if you prefer that look.

The interior trim project will cost, but would be worth it. Or else put sheepskins on the front seat and just drive it.

It looks like the mate to one I picked up for my wife awhile back.

Rust never sleeps!

1st picture. You might look at the entire thread just in case.

What's the brand name on the fog light? I've got a couple around. I think I have a Hella and a Bosch.

I am in the process of stripping and crushing a '71 250C so I've got a lot of little fiddley bits for the asking. (too much rust on it to make it safe)
