Found a 220S aka Big Blue
Oh yea.. That won't buff out
James and myself were walking back with our haul (euro W123 bumpers) to the front desk and I was like.. oh look an old american sedan and we went and checked it out... WRONG!!!.. Soon as I saw the mangled grill I was like.. Oh Snap.. its a Heckflosse! Not worth saving but man it was cool to pull little things off of it the wheels themselve were interesting.. we couldn't figure out why the hup caps wouldn't pop off.. they were held on with some heavy duty spring loaded mounts. The 220 script on the worn wood dash was still there and James called Dibs... which was cool since I scored a "Made in West Germany" plaque and a Bosch plaque..as well as the hub cap and beauty ring. I was stunned at how much wood was in this car... all around the windows and dash and such.. It had a clutch pedal and a column shifter too!... I did manage to find the mangled trunk script in the mess in the trunk.. That's going up on my wall.. what we found to be great was on the back of the vehicle ID plate was that someone had removed it and put "Big Blue" on the back... neat eh.. Not related to the 220 but on a SD we found there was a foil strip on the fan shroud with two signatures... James's CE has a foil strip like that in his door.. Since the car was going to be crushed soon I removed some of the wood trim so it could be sacrificed properly.. ya know a funeral pyre or something... |
