The station drained the tank for her but refused to pay for the pump. They're normally pretty good Joes so I didn't push the issue. Diesel will stay in the carb's bowl for a while (for a few gallons) but it eventually will mix out.
Just got off the phone with my mate as I was kinda interested in this saga myself ... and as you say Mike there seems to be Diesel still in the carby as the cold start is still a problem. It wants to die and he still gets a puff of grey smoke even after going thru half a tank of regular. I also suspect the plugs may have fouled? anyway will pass on the info re the pump, thanks again.

He probably still has a bit of diesel in the mix. If the plugs were fouled it would not run, IMHO.
