Fuel Tank Trunk Plug Wrench

Does anyone know where I can get a fuel tank drain plug wrench? I have a very good W108 fuel tank that has a clogged drain plug filter that I need to remove and clean out. I also want to check of this is the problem on on of my 6.9's.

Your spark plug socket will work fine. Just use the opposite end (hex side), and get a long extension to connect inside the socket to your ratchet. A neat tool tip thats mentioned several places in this forum.

Yeah I tried that before, but it wasn't successful. That's why I'm looking for the correct tool.

I gave up looking and found a metric bolt with a 34mm hex head on it. Then I used a couple of nuts on the shaft to give me a surface to torq. Not a pretty setup, but it worked. Try to find a hardened bolt, or use a stainless one if you can.

108 tank screen plug is 22mm....7/8" is close and will work...........

If you have a plug socket with a 7/8" wrench end, then here is how we have done it years ...

I believe you can get the MB tool thru Fastlane, your local dealer, or MB Classic.

MY "factory" tool was an old 1/2 drive socket with a 22MM nut welded to it.

Took thousands of the tank strainers out with it!
