Value of a 20k mile 67 230S?

A friend's brother just bought an estate that includes a 1967 230S with a stick, and only 20,000 on the clock.

It is allegedly on blocks in a temperature controlled garage.

I haven't seen the car or pix yet, but is supposed to be in perfect condition. I suspect that it has been sitting for many years and may or may not have been prepared for the storage. Owned by a unmarried female college professor.

It is going to be offered to me first.

So, what range of value does a car like this have?

ie - say it wasn't stored properly, and needs everything from a complete fuel system rebuild, all new seals everywhere, maybe wiring repairs from rodent activity, maybe a re-ring, etc?

-or-

It was stored properly and only needs recommissioning?

Sorry I don't have more info. I just want to be somewhat prepared when the vehicle's asking price is presented to me. I'll report back once I find out more.

Thanks on that. Even if he doesn't know, I hope I could tell the difference if I go look at in person.

Look at the pedals for wear and a worn drivers seat.
Many supposedly Low Miles Vintage Benz have been rolled around a couple of times ..
...the problem being a 5 digit capacity Odometer will show 65,000 miles on a car with 265,000 actual miles.
I am more suspect of a roll around on a car with 20/30K showing than I am with one showing 90K...very few cars around that age with a real 20K on them..
...BUT , it could just be true ....

I always look at the pedals, the area under the floor mat where the driver's heel rests, the ignition switch for looseness, the radio buttons, the door pulls, pull up the rear seat bottom, etc.

Unfortunatley, the oldest Benz I've owned is my 82 SD, so I can't determione what's stock on the normal maintenance replacables. If it really only has 20,000 on it, I would suspect even the brakes might be original. But I don't know a thing about older Benzes.

Did a 67 have discs or drums?

I'm sorta excited about this car. I sure hope it is a good one.

Other than possible mileage discrepency, is there anything in particular to these vehicles that goes bad?

Arthur

On this model, are you saying the bushings and mounts wear or deteriote at an accelerated rate as compared to say a 126 car?

Or that on a car that sat around so long, they are probably bad? I agree, all of them are shot and I'd have to change them all. Is changing them similar to a 126? I've done that on a few of the 126 cars.

I am saying that rubber from that era has a short life span....even shelf life..
..and that car is a swing axled suspension with king pin front end and subframe mounts that are a horror show to change..

Oh my.

I've changed king pins on Mack R and U models. That's not fun.

Well, if the price is right and appears to actually only have 20,000 on it, it just may be worth the effort. Heck, I have a 19 year old kid that just loves to work on cars. I'll explain how improtant it is to know how to change subframe bushings on a 41 year old car. Maybe he'll bite.

These are nice cars and if it is low miles and NO [ LIKE IN "NOWHERE NO !! " ] Rust, it is worth changing a few rubber parts and seals, etc..they are cool cars.

I would never price a car I have not inspected and driven...

..but I have bought hundreds of cars in my day and we have a saying that seems to hold true..

The First guy to mention price loses !

..It always fits the typical "How much you want for it ???"

" I don't know..what do you think it's worth ???"
