At Last I Won!
Thanks to everyone helping with advice and comments on all my posting questions. My 450 now runs at least perfect after all new wires, plugs sensors, filters, fuel pump and the final touch was the new distributer and rotor caps as now it is like new. One problem, it still is wasting more gas that usual, and sometimes does a diesel when I turn it off. I did cheat and put reg gas in it but not really thinking, but is there a nother secret like the timing, or anything that can make this run at better mpg? I know about the eggshell on the gas pedal story already :0) but seriously any help can be used and $$$ Apreciated. 3.50 a gallon for SUPER is alot and going up - and I just wanted to know if anyone has a good suggestion. (Oh all the air in my tires are correct :0)

dead weight
make sure there is nothing in your car that doesn't need to be. keep only the essential in the trunk. If you put super in it will run better higher octane gas ignites better.

89 octane is optimum, I couldnt tell a difference betwene that and 93 in my M117, she doesent seem to like 87. Air in tires should be (according to my SL-C's doorjam) is 32front 36rear. If your airfilter and timing are correct, well then my friend your as good as your going to get.
I was at my local MB dealer a few weeks ago and noticed that the sticker MPG on the new 550's and higer were within range of what we are getting on our 450's, now this being said, and that we have the premium cars of their time from the MB line up, it seems consistant that our cars did not have fuel economy addressed in design, they made-up for the poor range by installing larger fuel tanks.

If you want to save gas I am sure someone can help take that beautiful 107 off your hands and you can put the funds towards say a Miata roadster.
Otherwise, enjoy driving it. When I hammer my Charger, I get 15-16MPG. With a super light foot I get 17-17.5MPG. To me, that's not worth the economy. I drive it like it was made to be driven

Also, watch out if you're running "Tony The Tiger" in your tank and not the ESSO Tiger...that gasohol blend will retard your mileage between 10%-25%, depending on how you handle that egg under the pedal.
The S-10 I drive gets, at the best, about 16-17 IF I baby her on the 10% blend...when I find and run the straight 93, the mileage IS 17 or better (19 is the best I've gotten on 93) regardless how I handle the pedal. I'm hoping that someone see the gasohol for what it's worth...but I doubt it. Sad...
