Back... to the 4360 + M110 combo!
Okay, I think I've decided to go with an electric choke 4360C for my 280S... I am dyin' to drive this tank around! ...blast some tunes from my Becker.
So... the 4360C will bolt up where that Solex is with minimal effort, correct? Should I use a 1" or 1/2" spacer? From what I've read, you just open the rear holes and it drops into place. Vac lines hook up properly too? What's the trick for the throttle linkage? Anyone have pics of their adaptations? Thanks

is the 4360 a q jet clone?
If so it should be a perfect match except for slight adjustment of two holes. The linkage is the trick. I have not done it on a benz. On my beemer I used a mechanical choke and secondary operation and the jetting for a 67 pontiac sprint. Tom W

Tom,
from what I gather, the 4360 is the spreadbore replacement for the Q-jet and works almost perfectly on the M110. I wonder if the factory air intake assembly is able to be used with it?

Do a search for "Qjet" or "Q-jet" and a couple of threads with pictures will come up.

the used holley I just got from ebay came with a little aluminum spacer ring to make the stock air cleaner work correctly.

I am not positive they still make it but edelbrock used to make a q jet replica which was supposed to be suprerior quality, (that shouldn't be too hard).

I assume this carb is able to be jetted accordingly for the motor too? I have a wideband O2 I can use for part throttle, idle, and WOT settings.

Using a large carb on a relatively small engine will require a very rich jetting. It sounds counterintuitive but the smaller engine will not have much vacuum compared to a big engine to pull the fuel out.
The jets for a 67 pontiac are by far the richest available. They will work for your benz, I am sure. It will run with the wrong jets but it will be very lean and will buck and not run well. Tom W

You will need a later-type gasket, and one of those little balls to hook the linkage to. You can get one from the dealer, it has a nut on the back.
You will also have to file the throttle bracket to clear the choke pull-down vacuum hose, and bypass the hot water connection with a length of hose, or find plugs for the two holes. If you want the full instructions, send me an email.

And last question:
are the 4360s the same?
