1971 M116 EFI problem
I have a 1971 280 se 3.5 coupe. It was running rough a couple of weeks ago so I started looking into it and found that the #4 and # 8 injectors were staying energized and dumping raw fuel into the cyls. I checked the impulse trigger slide-out and the points seem to be in good condition. I am stuck. Where is the next place to look. The ECU? The wiring harness? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with my m116. Replaced the ECU and that took care of it. Now my trigger points seem to be giving me trouble. Iīm always running on 4,7,8,5, cylinders. Donīt know what to do about it..

I'm there myself
How do you know the trigger points are the problem?
Did you test them? To test them, remove the connector from the distributor. Connect one lead of an ohmmeter to Pin 12 (middle of the five) on the point set. Then connect the other lead to each of the four pins and crank the starter. You should see the meter fluctuate between "close to zero" and infinite resistance as the points open and close. Another way is to do this test at the ECU end of the harness.
