Clear coating for ancient pigskin fuel line?

On my ancient sports car there are (don't laugh) pigskin fuel lines. When you first drive it after sitting for awhile and its dried out it will seep. The seepage swells the pigskin until it stops seeping.

Mine has become rather uneven looking and I am thinking of trying to put some kind of coating on it to make it look more uniform.

anybody have a suggestion as to what will stay on pigskin that seeps gasoline from the inside? I want something that is sortof semigloss in finish.

Neets-foot oil works well on pigskins, softens the leather and makes it easier to throw and catch.

Its a spagetti grinder.

No ideas for a laquer type paint?

I have some neets foot oil. That would be no problem.

I am curious too. I have never hear of a material like this or a hose. How do they make it into a tube? Paul

Ferrari??

Only italian car brand I could see myself going through those extremes for (or an early all disc brake Weber-ed Maserati 3500GT - assuming I would fit...)

I would go with the oil also. Any laquer type paint is going to build a film that will crack. Another thing I would think about is finding an oil that is blended with a light wax. That way you will get a little more substance to the treatment.

If you look around at natural grocery stores they sell Burts Bees hand salve. The mixture is sweet almond oil and bees wax. I use that stuff on leather all the time and have been happy with the result. There is also Badger Balm, another oil and wax blend - They have many different blends lighter oils and scented *-)

You can order Burts offline if need be. I also have it at the grocery store I work at.

59 ferrari pf coupe. Bought it not running about fifteen years ago and now am putting some stuff back on it so I can sell it as a running car and reduce debt.

I hate to sell it because unlike my real estate it seems to be becoming more valuable each year.

Tom, I would keep that car if I were you! You are going to kick yourself for letting that one go years from now - unless of course you are going to trade up for a 250 GTO or so . Plus, you must have at least one car from all the great European car countries (Germany, Italy, Britain). Styling wise, I love the Ferraris and Maseratis of that late 50s early 60s era.
