Please Help, 250S W108 Fuse Designations??

Dear Vintage MB Folks,

I hope you may be able to help. I have a 1967 250S, W108.012. My high beam seems to be not working. I bought two new beams, they both work. My mechanic suggested checking the fuses. I looked at the fuse panel and there are 12 fuse slots. The original fuse designation sheet is intact. The fuses (some ceramic, some (boss) glass bullet end type, all looked corroded on the ends) I figured I would change all of them just to get a complete fresh set in there. I also cleaned up all of the brass/copper? spade type terminals. All of the fuses were 8A except one #3 was a 25A (which was a 1/2" long, ie. half size). Some of the 8A's were white ceramic, but some were black plastic. That seemed odd to me, as I thought that the 8A = white, 16A = red, and 25A = blue. My question is: What amp size should each of the fuses listed be?
Your input is much appreciated! Please feel free to contact me anytime.

Fuse #1: dome light, parking light, clock, passing signal light, map light, glove compartment light

Fuse #2: windshield wiper and washer, horn, cigar lighter (fyi, this fuse #2 has what looks like a brass part (about 3/8" long) riveted to the top of the terminal. This is the fuse slot that had the short 25A fuse in it, as mentioned above)

Fuse #3: BLANK

Fuse #4: turn signal indicator, automatic starting aid

Fuse #5: back up lights, fuel guage, hand brake warning light

Fuse #6: heater blower, stop light

Fuse #7: tail light right, parking light right, license plate light right, dash board lighting, trunk light

Fuse #8: tail light left, parking light left, license plate light left, fog lights right and left

Fuse #9: head lights high beam right, and indicator

Fuse #10: head lights high beam left

Fuse #11: low beam right

Fuse #12: low beam left

Thank you,
TrouperL (mattlafferty@msn.com)

Using red or white ones for the lights should get you by for now to diagnose the problem.

Fuse Amperage Designations

Thanks, C. All of the fuse slots (1,2,4-12), except #3, were white 8A ceramic. #3 was 25A. I just want to make sure they are the correct amp values in the right spots. Thanks, Matt

Matt, from memory, all the fuses in the 250S are white ones... the longer ones being 8A.

Good luck!

Jaime
