Is that a broken control arm? Do you not have a spare one in the other car? If not let me know as I may have a spare.

Hey Ali -
No, not broken YET. Worn pivot points (those control arms are since off) led to the discovery that both upper and lower control arms also had some significant wear out of spec where the inside threaded/outside threaded cap nut holds the control arm to the pivot point. The uppers have a big lip where the upper pivot point goes through the control arm from all the movement. The lowers have so much play where the cap nut threads through to the pivot points that the cap nuts won't stay tight. They were loose enough once the front springs were out - that it could have been really, really dangerous had they come loose the rest of the way. Normally, those nuts are torqued to 200 ft lbs. I won't say my cap nuts were finger tight - but they were close. Because the PO threw out some of the first owners records, we haven't been able to figure out if any of this stuff was replaced when she did some suspension work in the early 90s. The only other indication of "monkeys" wrenching on my suspension is attached... (this bolt through the upper steering knuckle was entirely stripped out). Either way, I've got new control arms on the way. Could have gone used, but I'm concerned about collecting enough UNWORN control arms in a limited amount of time to find a pair of lowers that was ok to use. Since I'm replacing pivot points, springs all the way 'round, rubber pads, king pin kits, tie rod ends and a host of other things - my suspension "refresh" just became a total suspension rebuild. Oh, well - won't need that for 35 more years, right?

Make sure you check city hall for registration regulations. I just moved to another city here in Mi, and they told me my American Bulldog is considered a "PitBull" and that I wuold have to install a computerchip under the skin on her skull, have her inner thigh tattoed, and have the vet break her jaw so it cannot lock, and she has to wear a muzzle when outside,. My court case is pending, I will fight this to the end. Just goes to show you the hysteria over the "Bully" breeds. Good luck.

Thanks, fortunately we don't have anything like this here. This dog is a huge pansy, I watched him run from a flying bird today... no kidding.
I just got him back from heart worm treatment and he was as sick as a parrot for the first couple of days. Now I just need to limit his excersize and keep him calm until he's cured.
