Question w114 1975 280ce M110 d-jet Pertronix recommendation?

Hi guys, a friend wants to update the ignition system from factory points to hall effect such as the Pertronix Igniter, just wanted to know if anyone has made the conversion in the 1975 280ce M110 W114 D-jet and what model number Pertronix was used as we have been unable to locate a distributor number .

Any help is greatly appreciated even a ref to fitting instructions apart from the stuff that comes with the unit.

Cheers BI

Pertronix instructions

I have been meaning to install a Pertronix in my car for a year now- in preparation for that, I compiled the great advice of several forum members into one word doc. Maybe it will be of use to you, I can email it. It refers specifically to the 3.5/4.5 V8 application so there are detail differences- but the general application is the same. JAS

Hey!
I don't know about the pertronix system, but I can say that I've had great success with the cranes cams xr700 system. I did the whole conversion in about 5 hours (had to redesign the mount for the sensor). It literally gave new life to the benz, a 71 280s m130. I highly recommend it!
Cheers

bosch distributor 10 digit numbers what they mean??

Hi rileyS and thanks for the tip but I really do like the Pertronix kit as it fits in the dist no box etc to mess with, ...speaking of which can anyone tell me what the Bosch dist number means 0 231 306 002, its not listed with Pertronix hence the problem? but I have seen these numbers on most D-jet M110 engines with only the last three digits changing (ie) 0 231 306 004 and so on . I asked a few people no one knew the answer???

thanks BI

Where are you located? If in the US, you have one of a few W114 280CE's here.
