'69 Mercedes 250 Hood ornament?

Any ideas for a cheap source for one of these? Spent a fortune on carb kits, and other pieces so far already! I have the spring and everything, just need the actual emblem.

ebay sells that. Look for one close to that year, or an entire grill.

Have you tried the "buy parts" link on this site? I got a hood ornament for my '77 here for 27 bucks. I haven't looked to see if they have ones for earlier models, but I suspect they do.

For these early W115/W114 grilles, there are different size holes in the grille shell for the mount.

The last cheaper aftermarket replacement W115 star I got was slightly smaller than the original, and the chrome didn't hold up well. Assuming their's is still OE quality, I'd be tempted to get my next one from a Mercedes dealer.

Does anybody know if a 116 hood ornament will fit a 114? I have a 114 in need of a hood ornament, and have a line on a cheap 116 hood ornament. I looked at it and it looks like it might work, but this site lists different part numbers for them.

yes, the 116 star will mount to the 114/115 base. The spring tension may be a little loose and the 116 star leans back a bit, where the 114 stands straght up, but it will work. btdt

Score! I went back to work and pulled the 116 star. I'll put it on this weekend. I ended up getting it for free.

Excellent. A Benz without a star just isn't complete, and the 114 & 115 have that nice backlit effect on the star from the headlights at night, it's always shinin'.

That's one of the coolest effects I've ever seen.
One more reason to like my 250C.

Well, stuff happened and I ended up not putting that star on until today. It does look a little funny leaning back the way it does, but it's better than no star. Unfortunately, I cut my finger trying to get the spring hooked to the thing underneath, so I ended up taking the base off and installing the spring in it with it off the car. Much easier that way.
