Hmmmm, I know it's a typo but what an accurate term for a "resto" on a SLC

Yeah, if you can pull the motor apart you can certainly fix the odo. Though messing with those little gears is very tricky, so be careful. You could reset it to zero if yoou wanted to.

I'll probally set the odo back to zero that way I can meter miles on the top end. . .and put her on a milage based maintenance plan, rather then the current time period plan.

Today saw much progress in the engine bay of the SL-C.

I torqued the heads down, installed the intake mainfold and started hooking various fittings.

I also adjusted the timing chain to read 0 degrees, the tensioner isnt installed yet but I dont think it will have much of an effect. I also installed new upper chain guides.

I cleaned and installed the fuel injectors and began to hook up the linkages that connect to the pedal to the throttle.

The new waterpump is in place complete with new gaskets.

Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced a cam sprocket bolt as well as my 5mm allen socket. Im going to have to go to the dealer tomorrow and hope one is in stock.

I plan on pushing her out of the garrage tomorrow, provided there is no rain to give me a chance to look around under the car and hopefully find thoes missing items as well as clean up (the car is surrounded by parts boxes and empty cans of brake cleaner.)

I plan on devoting all day tomorrow to getting the car back on the road. If I can aquire that bolt I should be in good shape and on the road.

Tomorrow-

Autozone trip for
new plastic vaccumn lines and rubber fittings
Plug wires
Distributer cap
ATF
Oil
Zerex G05.
5mm Allen socket

Dealer trip-
Cam sprocket bolt.

Heres some pictures from today, excuse the hazyness, my ex damaged the camera yesterday.

WUR and other assorted stuff to be installed

Drivers side camshaft

Its looking better!

Lots of room under the hood of the 107

Good luck finding that stuff at autozone. They don't have the proper hard vacuum lines or fittings. Nor do they have Dextron III ATF, and Zerex GO-5. Maybe yours is different but I had to get the vacuum line at the dealer, Zerex GO-5 at NAPA and the ATF at NAPA. When I asked for Dextron II/III they haven't ever heard of it at autozone.

Did you have any trouble getting it all back together?

Hope you get it running tomorrow.

Great work, on the vacuum lines, dealers stock these and they are not expensive and will be the correct color coding.

My autozone had G05 and Dextron (IIRC) last time I changed my coolant. I should hit the dealer for vac lines, correct color is important, even though most of the vac lines are going to be removed (the ones dealing with emissions) after I get the car running well. The chassis vac lines are still good, the heat and oil of the engine bay destroyed the old ones.

I didnt have any problem getting the stuff back together. I got lucky and remembered how everything went back togther and besides thoes two items I mentioned eariler didnt loose anything.

Wonder why your car had Dunlop tires when new, and I had Michelins?

I personally like michelins, when the tires on these wheels go, on go the michelins. . .

Yeah but I have a 79, I don't see why a 78 and a 79 would be different. I guess they were though.

She left the garrage today, under my power.

Need to make a dealership run. . .

need bolts for the throttle linkages, P/S bracket and that sprocket bolt. . I cleaned the whole F-N garage and that stuff is no where to be found. Once I get that we'll be in business.
