finny nuts and bolts

I have got my finny out of storage and in my yard at home. Currentley taking her to bits ready for dipping in december. I want to post the dismantling pics onto a photo sharing site that is free and is easy for me to link up to you guys, so that you can see the guts of this car. Any advice on a good sharing site that can hold lots of pics?

Paul

Great job Paul. It sure does take some time to disassemble an old car if you intent keeping and reusing the parts.
You'll have a great lengthy party with your welding machine I see, rust in the typical spots. Although I don't see any behind the headlight buckets, that's good! Also the front beam (what's it called, the one where you hang your bumper) seems rust-free, that's great, all my fintails and W108's always had major rust on the ends of those.

What's the hatch for on the firewall? I've never seen those before, it couldn't be the fresh air intake since they suck in fresh air from just above.. or?
What is this?

The hatch? I do not know, mabe its a summer/winter thing? I have never welded in my life so this is going to cost me . A guy who knows everything there is to know about mercs says that if i want to buy the factory metal for the inner wings, it is seriously expensive!
i will post a link to his site, i`m sure you guys must have come across him before. http://www.classicmercedesbenz.co.uk/index.php

Can i post a link to my photobuket thing in my profile or somwhere? I will keep adding to the album as i go along.

Thanks Paul

Hey, great project! I enjoy mine quite a bit. I believe that flap is to allow extra heating in the winter, later models omitted it. Dog could tell ya more, I think there is also some kind of pull rope activated shutter system for the radiator. Isn't it an Sb though instead of an SEb? At least engine-wise. That air cleaner and the two aluminum gizmos underneath look somewhat familiar to me ;-)

Yes and no. It was an seb but some plonker removed the injection system and bodged up the carb set up. Its amazing it runs at all.

Carbs aren't too bad... but yeah, I'd be ticked. Vintage injection systems are so much cooler. Looks like you got solexes, what'd he do about the fuel pump/tank and soforth?
