Just Got A 1955 180 Gasser

Very rust free and complete, with lots of extras, including two factory boxed spare parts kits. Underside is very clean...More of this saga to follow. If anybody has one of these and wants to share some knowledge, I'd be grateful.....

Beautiful. Love that steering wheel. Does that have the turn signals activated by the horn ring?

- Peter.

and she's shining up a bit, although a paint job back to stone gray is in order.

Check out the Ponton Group:

Make sure you get the MB technical manuals:

http://www.classictechlit.mbusa.com/MB/

Well worth the small investment.

Agreed, these are a MUST. Just got "Star Classic - Service Manual Library - Volume 2" which covers your car. So far it doesn't have the owner's manual for my 66 230S. Not a big deal but I was hoping that would be covered on the disc. I can check to see if anything is missing for your 180, but I wouldn't let that stop you from ordering it.

I'd agree about the color. Original is usually best. What about the interior colors? I'm assuming that's been changed around a bit over years as well.

the interior is in an altered state: that is, it retains a somewhat original configuration, but has been reupholstered. It has a sun faded, velet-like mess on the seats and the armrests. the door panels are redone also, in a matching vinyl to what is on the sides of the seats. well done, but dated and wrong. I need to revisit the trim number to see which interior color it had and try to go back that way. I'd love to find some pictures of what a '55 looked like inside when new, but have not found any with any degree of detail. There are some other subtle mods, the wheels and hubcaps are a later version, and the rear bumper guards appear to be from a 190 or late 180 with the extra reflector on them. thats ok for now...
