w115 windshield wiper?

This is on a recently bought 1976 300d

The wiper system looks to be disconnected. all parts look to be there, but no hoses are connected. How did this all go togeather, and what if the pump bulb has a leak?

pump bulbs leak = wet foot, some can be 'sealed" but not often a long term fix. Wired through the turn signal multi function switch for normal operation
I also seem to rembember that activation of the foot pump turned the wipers on as well

no hoses connected, I think I can piece it togeather. Wired through the signel stock, you say? how easy would this be?

Well, what doesn't work?

Wipers or washers?

Wipers are controlled from the combination switch. Some are two speed, others have an intermittent feature.

If you have no wiper action, the combination switch is the first thing to check.

Turn on the wipers, then verify that you have power to the motor. Motor is on the left hand side of the cowl, up high. You can see it on the engine side.

If you have power to the motor and nothing happens, then the motor is dead. No power, check the combo switch. Look at the base of the steering column just under the dash and you'll see a large connector that comes out of the column sleeve. That's the one that controls the wipers.

Do a continuity check on the switch.

The washer bulb has a rubber piece that pressurizes the washers when it's depressed. There is also a ring around the rubber bulb that, when depressed, will energise the wipers for one cycle. Or longer, if you hold it down.

Do some simple checks and see where the problem lies.

Jim
