I don't know, I've sold a bunch of these on ebay in the last year or so for about $70-100. Did not think I needed them after selling my 280SEL 4.5.

The "computer" that controls the fuel injection (ECU) is under the passenger side dash behind glove box on the SLs, not sure on 280SE but in same general area.

But both are worth picking if you can get them cheap before crushing!

Any luck getting the parts so far daw_two?
Will go to the boneyard this weekend...........hopefully.

Hello Graham,

On these W108 4.5 sedans, this "brainbox" is mounted in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the radiator. It is one of the first things to get damaged in a frontal collision. Yes all the other EFI cars had it mounted under the dash.

Now that you mention it, the ignition module which is mounted on the other side of the radiator would be another item to salvage.

Except for the W114 which was also mounted in the same location.

I stand corrected!

One thing about the ignition module - It can be bypassed/replaced by an $80 Pertronix! With better performance too!

got some stuff today....

Tentative sold:
all injectors on the rails
distributor -- points even look good

And got this stuff:
EFI (or whatever it is)
The other module on the other side
middle console (very good condition)
window shield washer foot control

The front grill is still on the car--- decent, no dents; a little bit of flaking, oxidation, or whatever it is called on one side.
Doors anyone?

I already have:
front headlight chrome trim
rear bumper
rear tail lights
rear badges
rear trunk lock

NOW --- can someone tell me if they want the ignition with key and matching door locks and trunk lock? If so, how do I remove the ignition switch?

Anyone else want anything off of this car before the crusher eats it?

bump

Okay, I've still got the injector rails.....don't remember who wanted them. And a forum member has first dibs on the distributor, but I think he wanted the distributor from the 1970 250 that was crushed a long time ago.

Still got all the other stuff and the car is still here.

Anyone want anything????

I have pics. The distributor and injectors on rails are on my garage floor and I need to get my daily driver (Coda) in for power steering hose changes, tensioner idler belt pulley assembly change, and under garage cover ---- I hate the dew on the windows when leaving the house.

Wow - thought the crusher had got you! - That was some time ago we discussed those parts

I have my car running really well, so have no REAL need now for those parts. But send me a PM with prices you expect and I will let you know. Send pictures too so I can make sure they are the right parts for my SL.

Did you get the Aux Air Valve?

I did not get the Aux Air Valve.....however, another vintage MB showed up; I'll start a thread on it.

LOL on the crusher getting me....yeah, I might be "finally" getting old and having vision issues, but my memory is still quite strong.
