1978 door trim piping

Does anybody out there in Mercedes Knowledge Land know where I can purchase the cloth piping that go around the doors? What has happened is that the cloth has worn off and the rubber underneath is now showing in places. I can't seem to find it on any Mercedes Parts websites. Any help greatly appreciated.

Also, what do you think about putting a molded cover over a cracked dash vs replacing the whole dash? Do the covers look alright?

If anyone outside of the dealer has the piping, it would be Performance Products, unless there is some specialty shop somewhere.

All of the dash covers I have seen look cheezy. Try Pick&Pull or just get a new replacement.

These guys have it, but they are in der vaterland. Send them an email, ask for 'windlace'. I don't know of any domestic suppliers.

Thanks for the replys! This website is teriffic. I just purchased this 78 300D and starting to replace a few things. I just came in from my shop after replacing a couple of seeping oil cooler lines. The information I found on this site helped me a lot! All went well.

I visited the website in DE and couldn't understand a word. I emailed a request for the windlace in english, so I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks again for the help.
Now off to look for some help on replacing my faulty AC compressor.

Check out this previous post for replacing plastic/vinyl surround and windlacing cloth material.

I have seen some covers do just fine, not the cloth covers but full dash covers. if done correctly, they provide satisfactory results. My preference is repalcement, however, i have removed several dash units and the job is not for the faint of heart and for the average DIYer
