Today I spent some time messing with the fuel pump on the 6.3. The pump for some reason is not pushing fuel out even though the motor turns.

I took it apart and pulled the motor, the brushes looked fine so I replaced all of the seals and put it back together, then put some gas in the tank.... Still nothing.

I found a spare one from a 6 cylinder 280SEL that I will try next week. But in the meanwhile, I used a universal pump that I had on my MG before i replaced it with an SU pump and connected it to a portable gas can... It ran the engine.

This is good as I have not been able to run it in the past and hence I wasnt sure what needed fixing on it.

Even though the car is in park, it's still in gear, i blipped the throttle and it shot the scate that was under the left wheel half way across the shop. As you can hear, the exshast is off, this happened when trying to unload the car of the hauler.

As I was on a high, I also tried to get the 280CE running which wasnt so sucessful. I drained the tank which had at least 4 gallons of old gas in it and then replaced the strainer. Then I tried to connect the fuel hose to the gas can. I was able to get spark to the coil, but nothing out of the distributior. There is a green wire that comes out of the distributor which I have no idea where it goes.

I suspect either to the balast resistors or the the negative side of the coil but I need to check.

The plugs, wires, rotor and oil all look new on the 280CE so someone has already gone through the effort of trying. I'll find out more next week.

Does anyone know where the computer is kept on this car? It's not in the same location as a W108.

I also bought some chrome headlight rings for my 59 Ford F-100 pickup. I'm getting tired of looking at this truck so I'm now selling it. If anyone has a decent welder, two post lift or 16ft Hauler that they want to do a Part Exchange on, let me know.
